1. Start with the questions people ask

Don't start with a sitemap. Look at the last month of chat and email: what did new people ask? What did you explain twice? Those are your first pages. Typical starters:

  • How we work: hours, meetings, communication channels, holidays.
  • Tools and access: what we use and how to get an account.
  • Core processes: shipping a release, onboarding a client, expenses.
  • Who's who and who owns what.

2. Use one page structure

Readers skim. Every page should open with a two-line summary, then sections in a predictable order: overview, steps, details, troubleshooting, related pages. FastWikiGen produces exactly this shape, which makes a wiki feel consistent even when many people contribute.

3. Let AI write the first draft

  1. Record a 10-minute explanation of a process or paste your messy notes into Notes to wiki.
  2. Review the draft with the person who owns the process; fix what's wrong.
  3. Export it to your wiki tool (Markdown, or copy with formatting) — or publish the link.

Drafting takes a minute; reviewing takes ten. That is how a wiki gets 20 pages in a week.

4. Give every page an owner and a review date

Wikis die when nobody trusts them. Put an owner and a “last reviewed” date on each page, and review the most-visited pages every quarter. Delete pages that are wrong — an outdated page is worse than none.

Frequently asked questions

Which wiki tool should we use?

Whatever your team already opens every day — Notion, Confluence, Google Docs, a GitHub wiki. Content and ownership matter more than the tool. FastWikiGen exports to all of them.

How many pages should we start with?

Ten to twenty pages that answer real questions beat a hundred empty templates.
